Toast Skagen

This creamy shrimp-based dish is one of the most popular and classic of all Swedish gourmet dishes.



500g cooked peeled prawns
half a bunch of dill
2 tsp horseradish 
2 tbsp mayonnaise
2 tbsp sour cream
1/2 lemon
pinch of salt & pepper
a good knob of butter for frying
brioche or white bread slices
Optional: Nordic Caviar for that extra luxurious touch

  1. Mix mayonnaise, sour cream, horseradish, dill (save some dill for garnish) and salt and pepper. Add the peeled prawns.
  2. Fry the bread in butter, dry on paper towel.
  3. Serve the prawn mixture piled on top of the fried bread and garnish with caviar, for a true nordic taste, finish with a sprig of dill and a lemon wedge.
